Industrial motion control, including servo motors and drives, are set up to stop if continuing to work would be dangerous to the machinery or to the people operating it. Fortunately, Rexroth Indramat drives don’t just stop and leave you wondering what’s going on. They communicate with you, sharing their inmost thoughts, or at least the reason they’re not working.
Error codes are usually 4 digit alphanumeric codes beginning with E or F. Today, we’ll look at error code F226.
F226: Undervoltage
F226 is the undervoltage error. You can see it in the EcoDrive family or in the DIAX04 drive.
The drive monitors the voltage of the DC bus. If the voltage drops below the prescribed level, the drive shuts down.
There are several possible reasons that this might happen. One is that the power source has been interrupted without turning off the drive enable signal first. This is the equivalent of unplugging your computer without shutting it down first.
Turning on the drive without a power source can create the same effect. When the power source kicks in, you may see the error code.
The other possibility is that the power supply is uneven or disturbed. Heavy weather can cause this, or sudden brief demands for extra power within the building — maybe in the air conditioning or refrigeration systems.
These are things you might be able to hear or see, but if you’re getting electricity from a utility company, there are plenty more possible points of failure, and you can neither control nor identify all of them.
Power supply
If you’re using the power supply module, it could be the culprit. A malfunctioning power supply module creates a disturbance in the power supply.
Remove the control enable signal. Make sure the power supply is as stable as possible. This should solve the problem.
