Avoiding Shocks with Your Ecodrive Units

safety-44447_640

It may happen someday that you have to turn off your Ecodrive or other legacy Rexroth Indramat parts. Maybe you want to move them to another room, or maybe the room they’re in has to power down for some reason. Whatever the reason, there are safety measures that must be taken when you do this.

First, be sure to wait for 5 minutes for the capacitors to discharge. Measure the voltage before starting up again.

You must also make sure that the ground wire is permanently connected to the proper terminals. Use your Rexroth Indramat manual to make sure you’re doing this right. If your manual was put in a safe place 20 years ago and no living person remembers where it is, you can get a new manual from us. The ground wire should not only be properly connected, but the connection points should also be securely covered to discourage curious poking. Use the covers provided for live points. A GFCI protective device can’t be used with these units.

Make sure that all devices and motors are grounded or connected with the ground wire to a grounding point. It’s essential to check all along the line.

Make sure that the e-stop (emergency stop switch) works before starting the machinery back up.
