Did you know that Memorial Day is one of the highest beer consumption days of the year, coming in at number three for beer sales? The great American beer-drinking holidays are the 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Christmas/New Year’s Eve, Thanksgiving, Easter, and Superbowl Sunday, in that order.
Gotta admit, we’re a little surprised that people drink more beer at Easter than Superbowl Sunday. What about you?
For all those robot loving, beer aficionados out there, this videos is for you.
The dexterity of robots is ever increasing, shown by the video’s test robots programmed by some students to pour a notoriously tricky beer that requires special pour techniques to achieve the perfect glass of beer. The robots are also programmed to detect which bottle is full in a case full of empty bottles.
While we don’t work with beer pouring robots (though we’re thinking it might be good), we will be dreaming this weekend of the perfect robot who could pour the perfect glass of beer. The robots in this video are more our speed, since they’re used for moving, packing, and washing kegs. A lot of Indramat and Rexroth servo drives and motors are used to do tasks just like the ones described in the second video.
