Automation by its nature has the potential to be more environmentally responsible than traditional factory set ups. The precision of motion control eliminates waste, increases productivity with the same resources, and lessens the need for human safety-related compromises on environmental choices.
Rexroth has been able to win some awards for additional green processes.
At the end of 2014, for example, the Bosch Rexroth plant in Mellansel, Sweden, received the besser lackieren Green Award 2014, named for the magazine besser lackieren. The plant uses innovative heat-capturing technologies to coat its motors — some weighing up to 10 tons. The new technology saves as much as 75% of the energy used in the process in the past.
besser lackieren chose Bosch Rexroth for the honor because they saw that, in addition to working toward energy savings in their machinery, the company also walks the walk in their own plants.
Green Manufacturer magazine also chose Rexroth for an award for a pump which not only reduces energy use, but also noise pollution, an often-overlooked issue. The year before, Hoffman Estates recognized their local Rexroth facility as a “Green Business” in addition to their fourth year in a row being recognized as a Top Place to Work.
