Rexroth Indramat Error Code F634

Rexroth acquired Indramat back in the 20th century. If you have an Indramat or a vintage Rexroth drive, you might see the error code “F634.”

Now what?

Emergency-Stop

The official name for this error code is “F634 Emergency-Stop.” This is a fairly simple, straightforward error. Unlike most Rexroth drive and control errors, this has pretty much just one cause: someone pressed the emergency stop switch.

Emergency Stop is a safety measure used to shut down a machine or process quickly in the event of an emergency. It is designed to prevent further harm or damage to personnel, equipment, or the environment. This measure is typically used in industrial settings and is of utmost importance when dealing with hazardous materials or situations.

Emergency Stop systems are used in manufacturing plants, and other industrial settings. In these settings, the system is designed to protect personnel, equipment, and the environment from further harm or damage. This can include shutting off power to machines, preventing hazardous materials from entering the environment, or even stopping production processes.

The Emergency Stop system is made up of several components. The primary component is the emergency stop button which is used to initiate the system. This button is typically a red push button that is clearly labeled “Emergency Stop”. It is placed in a prominent location to ensure that it is easily accessible in the event of an emergency. Other components include a relay switch, which is used to control the power to the machines, and a contactor, which is used to disconnect the power from the machines.

F634

Pressing the emergency stop (E-Stop) switch sets the velocity command value to zero. An error is reported in the S-0-0011, Class 1 diagnostics parameter. The machine stops.

You can reset the velocity command and restart the drive. But think about it first.

Whoever pushed that red button had a reason. That’s why the manual tells you to “Eliminate the malfunction that has caused the emergency switch to be actuated, and clear the error.” Find out what led to the stop and fix it before you clear the error. Don’t just clear the error.

This might require some detective work. If you can’t track down a human being who knows what’s going on, consider sending your drive in for factory reman. It has been in service longer than any of the human beings in your facility, after all, and the maintenance can give you years of further service.
