T-Rexroth

Rexroth built a dinosaur for the Da Vinci Science Center. The 11 foot long animatronic dinosaur has some of its outer shell removed so visitors can see the inner workings.

The inner workings are worth a look. There are four axes of control: the hips rotate, the jaw opens and closes, the head nods, and the neck turns. Each individual axis includes a ctrlX Drive servo drive and an MS2N motor.

Each axis is controlled by a joystick which visitors can use to determine the Dino’s movements. The interactive exhibit introduces visitors to the wonders of motion control.

The Pennsylvania STEAM education center will showcase the animatronic reptile in a new pavilion opening next year.
