Has your Rexroth/ Indramat legacy servo drive or servo motor been updated or upgraded since it was installed?
Although these components are official maintenance free, there might be upgrades or updates to the programming or to the parts inside that would be beneficial. Of course, Indramat machinery doesn’t need to be updated to keep working correctly. Indramat servomotors and servo drives have been running successfully for decades without these new changes. But should your Indramat servomotor or servo drive need a repair, having any other upgrades or updates done while it’s in the shop is a good idea.
Don’t fix it if it ain’t broke?
One reason that Rexroth components often don’t get updated is that they don’t break. Or hardly ever. However, their official predicted lifespan was 10 years. No need to lubricate it or change the oil…for ten years. If your component has been in service for 20 or 30 years, it could probably use fresh oil.
Factory repair and reman includes fresh oil. Wearing parts will be replaced, too, and everything will be checked and tested. Your part comes home with a new warranty.
Accurate information
That’s another advantage to factory repairs. At the Indramat Bosch Rexroth factory repair center, they know all of the proprietary information other repair companies don’t, including if there are any upgrades or updates out there for certain parts of your Indramat servo. For instance, if a part inside the drive has been recalled by the manufacturer for failures, you can have that part replaced and avoid a future failure. But only the factory repair team knows this information well—other repair companies have to figure out this information on their own since Rexroth doesn’t issue service bulletins to third party shops.

Third party repairs just aren’t up to the strict standards of the original factory parts. Factory repairs, however, are the best in the business.
