There are two popular reasons to choose used components for your factory:
- It’s better for the environment. Creating new machines takes much more energy and raw materials than factory refurbishment.
- It saves money. Manufacturing is picking up in the U.S., but increased efficiency and cost control continue to be important.
We’re in agreement, but we’d add another.
We provide factory rebuilt replacements for legacy units — machines that are no longer made new. Your choices when you need to replace an Indramat component or a legacy Rexroth component are either to come to us for a factory refurbished component that is just as your part was when it was new, or to switch to a completely different item.
When you replace a part of your motion control system with something new, especially when it’s a legacy component, you’re very likely to have unintended consequences. That one change can create incompatibilities that you didn’t foresee. You think you can replace one legacy part in a system and everything else will be fine, but systems don’t work separately: they work together.
Replace one piece with something new, and you may find that the other elements in the system can’t handle the additional speed and power. You may end up with parts that require different operating systems, increasing human time investments enough to offset any benefits you might have had from increased machine speeds. Before you know it, you’re having to replace more parts.
The cost and the environmental consequences really add up then. Instead of taking that chance, call us at (479) 422-0390 when you need Indramat or Rexroth support.
