Weird Noise from Rexroth Motors

Broken-Indramat-by-hmboo

Everything seems to be going well on the production floor. It’s all running smoothly and you haven’t had any problems lately. There’s been a pesky weird noise coming from one of your cabinets but otherwise all is well.

You’re not too worried about the weird noise because industrial equipment just makes weird noises, right? You’re not really sure what’s going on inside of the cabinet.

Wrong. If your Indramat or Rexroth equipment is making a funny noise that it’s never made before, that means your equipment is having some kind of problem.

There’s a difference between a normal weird noise and a new weird noise

The new weird noise is the one to watch out for. It could mean thousands of dollars every second your machines are offline.

Instead of telling yourself it’s just a noise, investigate the weird noise. Are are some possibilities:

  • Something has worn down or worn out, and two surfaces are rubbing against each other when they shouldn’t be.
  • There has been an increase in vibration, or a change in vibration.
  • A screw or other small part has gotten pushed or moved out of shape or has fallen.
  • Something, maybe a shaft, has gotten bent out of shape.

If you’re not sure what the strange noise that’s coming from your Indramat or Rexroth drive or servomotor is, give us a call. We can often diagnose these types of problems over the phone, meaning less downtime for you and more money in your coffers.

Downtime coming?

A fatal error in your machinery can cause unplanned downtime, and that can be a serious problem. We specialize in Rexroth motion control systems, and we can help get your facility up and running again
