The Rexroth Indramat TDM is a servo drive known for — and designed for — versatility. These low and medium power drives were perfect for motion control in automotive applications and for CNC (computer numerical control) machinery designed for metalworking and woodworking.
These drives made possible a very high level of precision — far greater precision, with less waste, than had previously been possible for automated machining.
The famed Indramat Personality Modules meant that tuning was automatic, too. This was obviously part of the greater degree of accuracy, and allowed successful use by less-skilled operators.
Thousands of TDM drives are still in use. We often see TDM drives that are older than the engineers who call us for support, finally needing their first bit of maintenance or repair.
