We’re in the middle of Industrial Revolution #4, or in less colorful terms, Industry 4.0. Rexroth has won the Industry 4.0 Award from trade journal Produktion and ROI Management Consulting AG. The reason for the award? The hydraulic valve assembly line in Homburg/Saar, Germany, which was determined to be the best example of Industry 4.0 in action.
RFID chips give the assembly line, composed of nine stations, the information they need to assemble the parts correctly.
Display kiosks show human workers just what the machines are doing and where, bringing the operators into the Internet of Things. A clear and simple user interface lets operators work at peak efficiency.
See the system running in eery silence in a Rexroth video at TheEngineer.
It’s no surprise that Rexroth picked up this award, among so many others. Rexroth has been making the best motion control on the planet for many, many years. Its heritage goes back centuries… and those have been centuries of excellence and innovation.
