Bosch Rexroth is investing in hydrogen fuel for internal combustion engines, but that’s not their only foray into green energy. They’re also working toward electrification of mobile working machines with their eLION platform.
Electric cars are becoming mainstream and increasingly popular. But what about off-highway working machines? Excavators and forklifts, dump trucks and bulldozers — shouldn’t they be electric, too?
Rexroth thinks so.
The newest item in the system is the eGFZ gearbox. These gearboxes are available in 1- or 2-speed styles.
The gearboxes join a full range of electric motor-generators, inverters and accessories designed to work with either battery or hybrid vehicles. They are, in true Rexroth tradition, modular and highly scaleable. More than 80 different configurations are possible, which gives this series the versatility for which Rexroth has always been famous.
Getting to know eLION
The eLION platform is an electric vehicle platform developed by Bosch Rexroth. The eLION platform is intended to provide a high level of flexibility and scalability for electric vehicle manufacturers. BODAS software modules are available for the entire range.
Safety is also an important focus for eLion. These components can handle ambient temperatures up to 212 degrees Fahrenheit, and they meet ISO 13849 safety standards.
Spokesperson Matthias Kielbassa says, “The aim is to use our technology to create a future with higher efficiency, lower noise emissions, and less air pollution.”
